Within the context of the Turkish Government's action plan targeting the alleviation of the burdens and sufferings of the brotherly Palestinian people, Turkish Government decided to provide emergency humanitarian assistance to Palestine consisting of 1357, 27 tons of food, medicine and medical supplies as well as three ambulances, with a total cost of 1 million US $.

As of 30 July 2004, Turkish trucks have already started the transportation of the assistance materials to Amman, Jordan. The assistance will be transferred from Amman to West Bank and Gaza Strip via Allenby Bridge in the coming days.

The first part of this humanitarian assistance, 99 tons of food such as lentils, flour, dry beans, chickpeas, sugar, tea and macaroni, is entering from the Allenby Bridge today ( 11August) under the supervision of the Turkish Red Crescent and the Consulate's personnel.

The assistance will be destined to the West Bank cities of Jenin, Nablus, Tulkarem, Qalqiliah and Ramallah will be distributed to the needy Palestinian families by the Turkish Red Crescent with the cooperation of the Palestine Red Crescent Society and the Supply Department of the Ministry of National Economy of the PNA.

Further parts of the total assistance will be transferred and distributed to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip in the following days.
