The President: The Security Council will now begin its consideration of the item on its agenda. The Security Council is meeting in accordance with the understanding reached in its prior consultations.
Members of the Council have before them the report of the Secretary-General on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (for the period from 17 January to 17 July 2000), document S/2000/718, and the letter dated 24 July 2000 from the Secretary-General to the President of the Security Council, document S/2000/731.
Members of the Council also have before them document S/2000/741, which contains the text of a draft resolution prepared in the course of the Council’s prior consultations.
I should like to draw the attention of the members of the Council to document S/2000/674, letter dated 11 July 2000 from the representative of Lebanon to the Secretary-General.
I wish at this time to welcome the Secretary-General and express, on behalf of the Council, our pleasure that he was able to join us this morning.
It is my understanding that the Security Council is ready to vote on the draft resolution before it. If I hear no objection, I shall put the draft resolution to the vote now.
There being no objection, it is so decided.

The President: There were 15 votes in favour. The draft resolution has been adopted unanimously as resolution 1310 (2000).
The Security Council has thus concluded the present stage of its consideration of the item on its agenda.
