Arab League Condemns Israeli Plan to Construct Fence around Settlements in Hebron (28-4-2005)

The Arab League General Secretariat pursues with extreme concern the Israeli news over the plan set by the Israeli occupation forces to construct a fence for protecting the settlement zones in the city of Hebron which is inhabited by 140 Israeli settlers among a Palestinian population of 140 thousand.
Such a negative orientation reflected in the Israeli plan, which comes within the framework of completing the Israeli wall, a matter that aims in the first place at confiscating further Palestinian territories is strongly condemned by the Arab League of States.

The Arab League, therefore, calls upon the international community represented by the UN and Security Council along with the Quartet Committee to assume full responsibility and take necessary moves aimed at urging Israel to stop the settlement activity and constructing the wall in implementation of the Roadmap and the UN General Assembly's resolution dated 27-10-2003, which condemned the construction of the wall for being illegitimate and demanded Israel to terminate construction works and removal of the fence from the Occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem.
