The President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas
receives Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shaikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, and the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to President of the State of Palestine Mr. Mahmoud Abbas.

He stressed the Kingdom’s firm stance towards the most important issue of the Arab world: The Palestinian cause, and the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Foreign minister assured during the meeting with the Palestinian President today (Thursday April 11, 2013) at his residence at the Jordanian capital Amman, and in the presence of the Jordanian Minister of Foreign and Immigrants Affairs, Nasser Judeh, that just and comprehensive peace cannot be achieved unless the Israeli forces withdraw fully of Arab territories occupied since 1967, on the basis of what came the Arab peace initiative and the decision of the relevant international legitimacy. He added that the peace process also requires the immediate cessation of settlement building, and cooperation with the international community to adopt a new methodology to revive the stalled peace process due to the intransigent Israeli position.

President Abbas expressed deep thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the King, and the Government and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain for their supportive attitudes for Palestine and its cause.

During the meeting, the latest developments in the Palestinian cause and course of the peace process in the Middle East were discussed, as well as the results of the meeting of the Arab Peace Initiative Committee, which was held recently in the State of Qatar. In addition, they reviewed the progress of the implementation of the Palestinian national reconciliation.
