JSC in Nablus received a grant of US$ 65,600 for the improvement of waste collection in the area. The main objective of the project is to improve the environmental situation through developing the management system for waste collection by installing new waste containers. The number of expected direct beneficiaries is around 35,000 residents.
JSC in Salfit received a grant of US$ 89,053 for the provision of a backhoe loader to transfer the solid waste to the designated waste site. This will improve the environmental situation in the surrounding area and the number of expected direct beneficiaries is around 70,000 residents.
In his speech, Mr. Okubo emphasized on Japan's firm commitment to enhancing the human security of Palestinians as well as on implementing the socioeconomic developmental projects that will lead to the empowerment of the Palestinian communities in the Gaza strip.
Since 1993 the Government of Japan has extended its official development assistance to approximately $1.7 billion, to the Palestinians. GGP projects have been formulated in collaboration with the Palestinian Authority through Ministry of Finance and Planning since 2010.
