Delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council
09:00 - 19:00 Jerusalem, Ramallah, Gaza

A nine-strong delegation of MEPs members of Parliament's delegation for relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council, led by its Chair, Proinsias De Rossa (Irish social democrat), will travel to the West Bank, Jerusalem and to the Gaza strip, from 6 to 10 December 2009.

The delegation will meet Salam Fayyad, Prime Minister of the Palestinian National Authority in Ramallah. MEPs will also meet MPs from the Palestinian Legislative Council, belonging to all political factions both in Ramallah and in Gaza.

The delegation's objective is to try to assess which are the main obstacles to the currently-stalled Middle-East peace process. MEPs will concentrate their visit on the following issues: settlements, evictions and house demolitions, Jerusalem's status and intra-Palestinian reconciliation.
