GAZA SITUATION REPORT 52
29 august 2014 | issue 52
UPDATE AS OF 1600 HRS
41 UNRWA Schools are still serving as Designated Emergency Shelters (DES) for 55,849 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) whose homes have been destroyed or are uninhabitable. In most areas, IDPs have been consolidated into a reduced number of shelters, to allow for more targeted service delivery to IDPs and for a cleaning of schools in preparation for a return to school for children in Gaza. UNRWA is in the process of finalizing plans for assistance to IDPs who will remain in the shelters for a significant period of time.
The ceasefire holds.
Data on damage to UNRWA installations is based on preliminary information and subject to change based on further verification. UNRWA estimates that 110 installations have been damaged since 8 July 2014.
