27 January 2006.  Ramallah.  UNICEF and the Palestinian Ministry of Planning signed today the 2006 annual work plan for Palestinian children and women.

The 2006 annual workplan for Palestinian children and women consists of five programmes, child survival, growth and development, universal primary education, child protection, development and participation of adolescents, and advocacy, communication, social policy, monitoring and evaluation.

The 2006 annual workplan is the first year action plan of the 2006-2007 Programme of Cooperation for Palestinian children and women signed with the Palestinian Authority on 31 December 2005.

The Programme of Cooperation for Palestinian children and women is consistent with national goals expressed in the Seven-Year National Plan of Action for Palestinian Children and the Medium term development plan, reflecting commitment by the Palestinian Authority (PA) to the Millennium Development Goals and World Fit for Children Declaration.
