HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL STARTS GENERAL DEBATE ON
HUMAN RIGHTS SITUATIONS THAT REQUIRE THE COUNCIL’S ATTENTION

The Human Rights Council in its midday meeting started its general debate on human rights situations that require the Council’s attention, during which speakers raised allegations of human rights violations in countries and regions around the world and reiterated the Council’s responsibility to address all situations of concern.
General Debate on Human Rights Situations that Require the Council’s Attention
Slovakia, speaking on behalf of the European Union, was also concerned about reports of human rights violations in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Maldives condemned continued illegal actions and human rights violations by the Israeli occupying power in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Spain...Spain was also concerned about the expansion of Israeli settlements and called for an end to the administrative detention of Palestinian civilians.
