AMBASSADORIAL-LEVEL MEETING OF PALESTINIAN RIGHTS
COMMITTEE, 9 JUNE, WILL MARK 30TH ANNIVERSARY
OF ISRAELI OCCUPATION

The Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People will hold a special meeting at the ambassadorial level at 10:30 a.m. on 9 June, to commemorate the thirtieth anniversary of the occupation by Israel of the Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, and other Arab territories.

In convening the meeting, the Bureau of the Committee expressed great concern at the deterioration of the situation in the occupied territories, including intensification of the settlements policy, and the current stalemate in the peace process.

The special meeting will be addressed by the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council. It will hear a message from the President of the General Assembly, and the Permanent Observer for Palestine will read out a message from the President of the Palestinian Authority, Yasser Arafat.

Messages will also be read out on behalf of the Chairman of the Non-Aligned Movement, the Organization of the Islamic Conference, the Organization of African Unity, the League of Arab States, and the Chairman of the International Coordinating Committee for Non-governmental Organizations on the Question of Palestine.

All Member and observer States, United Nations bodies and agencies, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations, and the media are invited to attend.
