Poland Opens Embassy in Ramallah, Polish Foreign Ministry's Undersecretary Notifies Secretary General (25-11-2004)
Secretary General Amre Moussa of the Arab League received Undersecretary Yugoslav Zalsky of the Polish Foreign Ministry in a meeting that was attended by Poland's Ambassador to Cairo.
Spokesman Hossam Zaki of the Arab League's Secretary General said the Polish Undersecretary detailed Secretary General Moussa on his country's policy in the Middle East, pointing out that the situations in Iraq and the occupied Palestinian territories have been profoundly discussed during the meeting.
According to the Spokesman, Mr. Zalsky notified Secretary General Moussa that Poland would open its embassy in Ramallah during next November. Zalsky said the subject move by his country falls within a framework of maintaining the desired balance in Poland's relations with parties of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in view of Poland's diplomatic representation at the ambassadorial level with Israel.
Over the situation in Iraq, the Spokesman said Undersecretary Zalsky informed Secretary General Moussa that his country intends to start curtailing the volume of its military forces in Iraq by early next year until a full pull-out by late 2005. On the other hand, Spokesman Zaki stated that the meeting tackled Sharm el-Sheikh International Conference, over which the Polish official said it was significant and stressed that the final communiqu' produced further substantial ideas aimed at helping Iraq out of its current situation.
As stated by Spokesman Hossam Zaki, the Polish official renewed Poland's invitation for Secretary General Moussa to pay the visit to Warsaw which had been postponed for having been scheduled at the same time of the Arab Summit last May.
