ANNEX

Text of a message dated 16 November 1988 from the President
of Pakistan to the Chairman of the PLO

The Government and the people of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan have received with great happiness the news of the declaration of an independent Palestinian State. Please accept our heartiest felicitation and good wishes on this auspicious occasion.

The declaration is an event of historic importance and constitutes a glorious milestone in the inexorable march of the people of Palestine towards their cherished goal.

Under your dynamic leadership our Palestinian brothers have demonstrated that they consider no sacrifice too great for the realization of their national aspirations. Inshaallah their sacrifices will rot go in vain and they will emerge triumphant.

Pakistan has always supported the just cause of the Palestinian people and we rejoice with the Palestinian people at the news of the declaration. I wish to assure you that our unflinching support will continue and we pray for your speedy and final victory.
